Residential lock installation · Smart locks

New locks and smart locks, installed properly.

A lock is only as good as its fit. We install deadbolts, handlesets and smart locks so the bolt throws all the way, the door latches without a shove, and the frame holds when someone leans on it.

What we install

Hardware for every door in the house.

Deadbolts

Single- and double-cylinder deadbolts, including heavier-duty models that stand up better to a kicked or pried door.

Handlesets, knobs and levers

Front-door handlesets and interior hardware in a finish that matches the rest of the house, keyed to the key you already use.

Smart locks

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth locks mounted, connected to your phone, and checked with every code and user you plan to set up.

Keypad locks

Code entry with no app involved, for households that want to stop handing out keys without adding another account to manage.

Patio door and window locks

Secondary locks for sliding doors and ground-floor windows, the entry points that get tried once the front door holds.

Strike plate reinforcement

Longer screws and a heavy-duty strike tie the lock into the wall framing rather than the thin door trim. It’s one of the least expensive security upgrades there is.

Smart locks

Picking a smart lock you won’t regret.

The right smart lock depends more on your door and your habits than on the feature list. Keypad locks need no phone at all. Bluetooth locks talk to your phone when you’re close by. Wi-Fi locks let you let a guest in from anywhere, in exchange for changing batteries more often.

Think about the backup plan too. Most smart locks keep a key cylinder for the day the batteries die; some drop it for a cleaner look and rely on an emergency battery contact instead. If being locked out by electronics worries you, keep the key.

Older doors are the other catch. An unusual door thickness, a nonstandard hole spacing or a frame that has settled can stop a motorized bolt from closing cleanly. We can check your door before you buy, or fit the lock you already have and adjust the door until it works.

Installation

How an install goes.

  1. Measure the door

Door thickness, hole size and the distance from the edge, so the new lock fits without guesswork or extra holes.

  2. Fit and align

The lock goes in and the strike is set so the bolt slides fully home without dragging or needing a push on the door.

  3. Set it up

For smart and keypad locks we program codes, connect the app and walk you through auto-lock and guest access.

  4. Match your keys

New keyed locks can be set to the same key as the rest of the house, so the key ring doesn’t grow.

Installation questions

Good to know first.

Can I buy the lock myself and have you install it?

Yes. Send us the brand and model before the visit and we’ll confirm it suits your door, so there are no surprises when the box is opened.

Will a smart lock still work if the Wi-Fi goes down?

Almost always. Most keep working from the keypad, from a phone standing nearby, or with the key. What you lose until the connection returns is remote access, such as unlocking for a guest while you’re at work.

What makes one deadbolt stronger than another?

Look for an ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 or Grade 2 rating, a full one-inch bolt throw and a reinforced strike plate. The grade printed on the box tells you more than the price does.

Planning new locks?

Tell us which doors and what kind of lock you have in mind, and we’ll quote it before any work begins.
